1. Who needs NP Clinical Assist?
Nurse practitioner students or Physician Assistant students searching for preceptor-supervised clinical training in order to complete their medical training necessary for graduation.
2. When do I start the process of obtaining a preceptor with NP Clinicals Assist?
It is never too soon to start the process, however we at NP Clinicals Assist recommend that you start no later than 8 weeks before a preceptor is required. The 8-week date ensures that the student will have a space reserved with the preceptor while giving sufficient time for the NP Clinicals Assist staff to have all necessary documents ready and available.
3. What is involved with the process?
The staff of NP Clinicals Assist work very closely with all preceptors to ensure that all necessary credentialling documents and agreements with the preceptor and student are completed and available in a timely manner for the respective student and school. The job of the student is to learn while the staff of NP Clinicals Assist takes care of all the paperwork.
4. What type of clinical training to expect?
Our clinicians teach the students hands-on techniques in the form of obtaining complete vital signs, H&P’s, evaluation of the obstetrical and gynecological patients along with fetal heart and an extensive review of the differential diagnosis of the patient’s medical problem(s). Many students get the opportunity to make clinical morning rounds with the preceptor.
5. Do the students get exposure to digital medical software?
Yes, the clinicians are well-versed in the digital entry of patient data and the students will learn by assisting with that data entry. Along with this comes the opportunity to learn some basic CPT and ICD-10 coding.
